South Dakota is getting a head start in the midterm elections. Absentee voting started Friday.

Voters will select a new governor, U.S. Representative and Attorney General, along with legislative seats and five ballot measures. Election Day is Tuesday, November 6.

Both the state Republican and Democrat parties plan to do door knocking to get people to vote early.

Minnesota has also begun early voting. The two states are among the first in the country to vote in the midterms.
