1) Sunday Liquor Sales In Minnesota
This weekend marks the first time that people will be able to buy liquor on Sunday in Minnesota. Looser booze laws and a new budget are among new laws that went into effect this weekend.
The Legislature finally repealed a ban on Sunday liquor sales that goes back to statehood.
That effort fell far short for decades, but an influx of more approving lawmakers helped reverse it.
Stores are allowed to be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
2) High Fire Risk In Western KELOLAND
Forecasters say Utah, Arizona and other parts of the Southwest could face more big wildfires this summer and fall, while hot and dry weather has also put the northern Great Plains at risk.
The National Interagency Fire Center’s four-month outlook released Saturday shows elevated danger of significant fires in parts of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah, as well as eastern Montana and the western Dakotas.
3) South Dakota’s Secretary Of State Says She Won’t Release Voter Info
South Dakota is among a group of states refusing to turn over voter information to a commission set up by President Donald Trump.
The President established the commission to investigate allegations of voter fraud in connection to the 2016 election.
In a letter sent out last week, the commission requested that every state provide “voter roll data” which includes addresses, dates of birth, political party, even the last four digits of a voter’s social security number.
South Dakota’s Secretary of State Shantel Krebs tells KELOLAND News, SD law does not allow her to make the state’s voter data roll available to the public and specifically it may not be placed for unrestricted access on the Internet. Here’s more from our interview with Krebs.
