Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather was on a road trip with his grandson, Martin, to South Dakota. They visited Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse Memorial.
The two have been documenting their trip on social media. KELOLAND News spoke with the Rathers on Skype Monday evening. Here’s some highlights:

Here’s a recap of the trip that they posted on Facebook Monday night:
Dan Rather has been a household name for decades (especially for viewers of KELOLAND), but his platform on social media has continued to rise throughout the 2016 election and the beginning of the Donald Trump presidency. He’s been reaching a whole new demographic of “viewers” on social media.
The 85-year-old isn’t slowing down anytime soon, Rather has a book about patriotism coming out in November. It’s called “What Unites Us: Reflections on Patriotism.”
