Veterinarians Put Down Two Burros Hurt In Legion Lake Fire

Two burros have died after suffering organ failure following the wildfire at Custer State Park late last year.

Park officials say veterinarians had to put down two of the eight because of internal and external burn injuries that they wouldn’t recover from.

The remaining six burros are still being treated and veterinarians believe they will make a full recovery.

The burros have a lineage dating back to the 1930s, when they were used to give tours to the top of a peak in the Black Hills park.
