Who Is Kristi Noem?

Rep. Kristi Noem is the incumbent Republican nominee for the U.S. House of Representatives.


Noem was born, raised and still lives in rural Hamlin County, SD.

She’s a 2011 graduate of South Dakota State University, a story that gained national attention on CBS This Morning. Noem never originally finished college. She dropped out at age 22 after her father was killed in a tragic farming accident.

While farming and ranching full-time on her family’s operation, she began public service. She’s been on the South Dakota State Farm Agency State Committee. In 2006, Noem was elected to the South Dakota House of Representatives.

She served as assistant Majority Leader in the State House before being elected in 2010 to the U.S. House of Representatives.
