A South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation agent is up for a national award, but he needs your help.
Special Agent Jeff Kollars is one of three finalists for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children Heroes’ Award.
Every year, the organization honors law enforcement heroes who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to recover a missing or exploited child.
Agent Kollars is up for the award because of his investigation of a man accused of possessing and manufacturing child sexual abuse images. This lead to 30 felony indictments. The man was sentenced in December to two consecutive life sentences. In court the man said he’d had 700 sexual encounters with more than 15 children.
Kollars also found additional crimes in five other states.
Voting ends Wednesday August 22.
The winners will be honored in Washington D.C. in September.
