Fire Prompts Evacuations Near Hot Springs, Quadruples In Size

A fire has started and is fast-growing in western KELOLAND.

Saturday evening a wildfire east of Hot Springs popped up. As of 8:30 p.m. (MT), the fire was 130 acres according to the Great Plains Fire Dispatch Center. The size doubling in nearly an hour.

Evacuations have been issued for houses on Valley View Drive and Eagle Court, according to Fall River County officials. Evacuees are being asked to go to the Mueller Civic Center.

The fire is located next to Battle Mountain and Highway 18.

Part of Fall River Road is closed.

Several air tankers and helicopters have been called into help. There is a high fire danger in the west.
