At least FOUR recounts have been requested after South Dakota’s elections last week for seats in the Legislature.

Three involve Minnehaha County lawmakers. The fourth is in Indian country on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

The fourth recount request is for House District 27.

It covers all or parts of Bennett, Haakon, Jackson, Oglala Lakota and Pennington counties.

The unofficial results showed Democratic newcomer Peri Pourier of Pine Ridge placing first with 2,876 votes and Republican incumbent Steve Livermont of Martin taking the second seat with 2,687.

Democratic challenger Margaret Ross of Porcupine wants the recount. She was third with 2,685, two behind Livermont. The fourth candidate was another Republican incumbent, Elizabeth May of Kyle, with 2,636.
